A Historic Milestone for Ndothua Secondary School and a Proud Chapter in Our Rotary Story! 🌟

On Saturday, 10th May 2025, despite the heavy rains, we proudly handed over a fully equipped Computer Lab and Mobile Science Laboratory to Ndothua Secondary School in South Kinangop, Nyandarua County — making it the first school in the area to offer Computer Studies as an examinable subject! 💻📚 The event drew an electric atmosphere as students, parents, alumni, local leaders, clergy, and partners came together to witness this bold step towards advancing digital literacy, innovation, and modern science education in rural Kenya. 👏 Special Appreciation to: ✨ Senator Hon. Kaba Methu Senator Nyandarua (Nyandarua County) for gracing the occasion and inspiring our students to dream big and lead in tech. 🌍💡 ✨ IPDG Eng. Leonard Ithau (District 9212), at the core of the Elimika Global Grant, whose visionary leadership set this transformative project in motion — together with the dedicated Rotary District leadership, Rotary Foundation, and the collective commitment of Rotary Clubs of Rotary Club of Muthaiga , Metro Bethesda, Charlotte Hall, Key Biscayne, Amesbury, and Rotary Districts Rotary International District 9212 , 9211, 7305, 6990, and 7620 — making this milestone in Ndothua and beyond a resounding success. We also appreciate DGND Jimmy Mwangi (District 9215) for gracing the occasion and standing in solidarity with our mission of transformation. ✨ Our Rotary Club leadership team: President Grace Wangui Waithiegeni , President-Elect Ruthy Munyi , IPP Martin Njeru , DS-PP Gracie N. Irungu, Regional Coordinator PP Miriam Kaniaru , Service Projects Director Nyambura Loise , Project Lead Njeri Burugu , Implementation Lead Kimathi Karuntimi , and the Elimika project and supporting committees 🙌 ✨ Board of Management Chair Mr. Joseph Kuria Nyiri — also an alumnus — for generously donating ICT books, and alumni project champions, especially Rtn. Advocate Mary Ng’ang’a for her inspiring story, and ICT Specialist Rtn. Fred Ochieng for his unwavering support. ✨ The area chief, clergy led by Rev. Muchai, teachers, and the resilient Ndothua community for rallying behind this transformation. 💬 As Nelson Mandela believed, “The child of a peasant farmer can rise to become a doctor, a leader, or a nation builder.” It’s this dream we’re nurturing — creating opportunities for every child to learn, grow, and thrive. 🌱 Beyond the computer lab, the school now boasts a mobile science laboratory with gas and water systems, well-positioned to support Competency Based Education (CBE) where digital and practical skills take center stage. Headteacher Mr. David Ikubu expressed his excitement at integrating computer studies and hands-on science into the curriculum, with a vision to see Ndothua become a rural ICT Hub. 👉 But the journey isn’t over. With 9 secondary and 10 primary classes, the school still needs additional toilets, a kitchen, a library, and a school feeding program. Together with the Nyandarua County Government, Rotary, alumni, and partners, we remain committed to transforming Ndothua into a true Centre of Excellence. 🏫✨ 🎯 Let’s keep the momentum going — perhaps, the next Bill Gates or Wangari Maathai will rise from these very classrooms. A heartfelt thank you to all who made this milestone possible. You’ve truly put Ndothua on the global map! 🌍✨ Under the Elimika Global Grant, we have 3 more coming up, in case you missed Ndothua Secondary’s handover
